Doctor Who fans marry in sci-fi ceremony

“It was a wonderful day with our family and friends – both from this planet and others.
“It’s a day we’ll never forget, and from one doctor to another we’d like to say thank you to everyone who helped us.
“Not many people have extra-terrestrials and time travellers as guests on their big day. And to be able to kiss your bride in the famous Doctor’s police box was a dream come true.”
Matthew and Linda, 39, a procurement officer for Durham County Council, met four years ago while they both worked in Ireland.
A romantic proposal came two years later on a Welsh mountainside, and the newlyweds are planning a honeymoon in the Lake District.
Shopping centre manager Richard Toynbee was happy to help the couple with their dream day.
He said: “It was wonderful that we could help Matthew and Linda to celebrate their special day in such a special way.
“They are both big Doctor Who fans and when they approached us to ask if the characters could join them we were only too delighted. I think the day is something they will never forget and it was a privilege for everyone at Prince Bishops Shopping Centre to be involved. We wish the couple all the best.
“Doctor Who Day was part of the Summer Sundays in Prince Bishops every weekend this month. To mark the final one, there will be a carnival extravaganza at the centre complete with steel drum bands, carnival dancers and street entertainers.”
