Raider's bid to burgle was filmed on an iPhone

A RAIDER was caught on camera when quick-thinking victims taped his bid to burgle their home on their mobile phones, a court has heard.

Brian Moulding, from Newcastle’s Kingston Park, made a “determined effort” to get inside the house in the Ryton area of Gateshead, Newcastle Crown Court was told.

But unknown to him, the 29-year-old had been spotted by the house’s owners, who used an iPhone to record his attempt to break in and steal from them, the court heard.

The hapless burglar escaped a jail sentence and has been given a chance to turn his life around after a probation report said there was a chance he would change his ways.

Sentencing Moulding, Judge David Hodson said: “This was a fairly determined and persistent attempt to get inside that house and the two occupants must have been very alarmed as to what was going to happen next. But they had the presence of mind to take a clip on their mobile phone of what you did and there was the evidence for all to see of you committing this offence.”

Moulding, who lives at Ascott Court in Kingston Park, was given a 12-month community order after admitting trying to enter the dwelling house with intent to steal in April this year.
