Sting

MORE details have been announced of a tour that will bring Sting back to his native North East.

The Tyneside-born musician will perform with the Northern Sinfonia at The Sage Gateshead as part of his Symphonicity tour, which features his songs specially arranged for an orchestra.

He announced his new world tour and forthcoming orchestral album at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and treated those present to a performance of five songs from different periods of his career accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

They included An Englishman in New York, I Hung My Head, My Ain True Love, Every Little Thing She Does and, from his first album with The Police, Next To You.

He said he felt like “a kid with a new train set”.

As part of the Symphonicity world tour, he will perform in Hall One at The Sage Gateshead, accompanied by its celebrated resident chamber orchestra, and also at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
