Nick Clegg’s calling to North East voters

Tories claim Nick should ‘get real’ as race is still between two parties

NORTH East Tory peer Michael Bates last night claimed the Clegg bubble had been firmly burst following the leaders’ debate.

Lord Bates said: “Cameron came across strong and prime ministerial. He showed passion especially in nailing Labour lies about pensioner benefits.

“The Lib Dem policies, especially on Europe, immigration and Trident came across as weak. The phrase of the night was “get real Nick”.

The Lib Dem bubble is deflating even under the most gentle scrutiny.

“The electorate are again faced with a clear choice between David Cameron and five more years of Gordon Brown.”

Ron Beadle, Lib Dem candidate in Newcastle North, said: “The polls show it was a score draw between Nick Clegg and David Cameron, with Gordon Brown just behind. What we can say is that it confirms we are in a three-party race.”
