THE heartbroken mother of a teenage girl fears her “bubbly and beautiful” daughter is the latest victim of the killer drug mephedrone.
In the days leading up to Joslyne Marie Cockburn’s death, fears had been raised about her increased use of the plant fertiliser – also known as miaow miaow and M-cat.
The 18-year-old’s body was found at around 8.30am on Sunday following a night out with friends. Her devastated mother said the former Walker Technology College pupil had dabbled with the toxic substance despite the efforts of her friends to stop her.
A post-mortem has so far proved inconclusive, and toxicology reports are taking place. It is still unclear what caused her tragic death but it is believed she died of a suspected drugs overdose.
Last night Joslyne’s mum, Jacqueline, 35, from Arthur’s Hill, Newcastle, urged others not to use the so-called “legal highs” and called for a ban on the lethal substance.
The mum-of-three said: “She was happy, friendly, bubbly, loving and fun. She loved being around people and she was so generous.
