Time running out to get Tokens for Schools cash prizes

SCHOOLS in the region have just a few more days to enter a competition that could get them big cash prizes.

The Journal has joined up with Barclays Money Skills to give away £20,000 to schools in the region through the Tokens for Schools competition.

But time is running out for schools to send in their completed registration forms, as the deadline for entries is this Friday.

A number of schools have already signed up to take part, including Villa Real School in Consett, County Durham, and Stead Lane First School in Bedlington, Northumberland.

The prize money can be used to fund any educational project the school chooses.

It could go towards some new play equipment, school trips or new IT equipment. But competition organisers are particularly interested in ideas involving financial education and any projects with a financial literacy theme will get 250 tokens added to their total.
