Cartoonist Paul Slattery’s 103 celebrity Ramside Hall mural

The vast mural of faces includes images of Jimmy Cricket, Peter Reid, Mick McCarthy, Denise Robertson, Roy Keane, Alan Shearer, Ron Atkinson, and the cast of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

And according to Paul, drawing caricatures can be a sensitive business.

“There’s a fine balance between getting a likeness without offending anyone,” he added.

However, there is one former Ramside visitor whose picture was not given Paul’s usual light-hearted treatment.

“I did more of a portrait of Sir Bobby Robson,” he explained. “It’s a bit more serious because I wanted to show a bit of respect.”

The mural is by no means a finished product, and bosses at Ramside hope Paul will continue adding to it as more and more well-known faces stay at the hotel.

“There are a lot more I could do,” he said. “But I thought 103 is enough for now.”
