THE Princess Royal will unveil more projects than expected as part of her trip to the North East, Buckingham Palace has revealed.
Princess Anne is already due in the region this month to open the new Haymarket Metro Station, in Northumberland Street, Newcastle.
But now it has been announced that she will follow that visit with a trip to Beacon Hill School and Specialist College for Business and Enterprise, Rising Sun Cottages, Wallsend and Ovington Boats Limited.
It was planned for Princess Anne to open new care facilities at Worcester Green Community Centre, in Gateshead town centre. But proposals for the unveiling have since been put on hold.
As President of the Royal Yacht the Princess will look around the Ovington Boat factory to see sailing dinghies being built for the 2012 Olympics.
Managing Director of Ovington Boats Chris Turner, said: “I am really pleased she is coming to the region. Any visit like this is great publicity. I would hope she would be pretty impressed by the factory. It will be great for her to see a boat made from scratch.”
During her visit to Beacon Hill School the Princess will be unveiling the school’s travel facilities, which have recently been installed to help the children travel independently.
