Re-Cyling so pupils can get on their bikes

CYCLES are being recycled as part of a school’s drive to get children on their bikes.
Pupils from Sacred Heart RC Primary School in Fenham, Newcastle, are gathering together bicycles which they no longer use and selling them to other pupils in their school.
Children in Years Four and Five will soon be taking their cycling proficiency tests but some don’t have a suitable bike. The swap shop will provide every child with a bike at a reasonable price.
The event will also help promote the schools Eco club, an after-school club which gets the children involved in recycling, gardening and growing their own vegetables.
Mother-of-two Kay Hattam, who helped organise the event, said: “Many children got new bikes for Christmas and we thought it would be a good way to get rid of their old ones.
“Children in Years Four and Five will be taking their cycling proficiency tests this year and we thought that some children might not have their own bikes.
