Travellers get more choice as new flights are revealed

HOLIDAYMAKERS will be able to jet off to sunnier climes from Newcastle International Airport in the summer.

Kiss Flights is launching services out of Newcastle for the first time, taking travellers to the Greek Islands of Corfu, Crete and Rhodes, and Dalaman, Turkey.

Low-cost carrier Flybe has also announced it will be flying to the Channel Island of Guernsey from Tyneside.

Thomas Cook has revealed its two new locations for 2010 as Izmir in Turkey, and Bougas, in Bulgaria.

Ian Derbyshire, CEO of Thomas Cook UK and Ireland, said: “By adding these extra flights from Newcastle airport, holidaymakers have more choice.”

Chris Sanders, head of aviation development at Newcastle International Airport, said: “We are delighted with Flybe’s decision to add direct flights to Guernsey from Newcastle.

“It opens up new holiday opportunities from the North East for short breaks and longer stays this summer.”

The new flights to Guernsey will be twice-weekly and will build on the success of the airline’s Jersey service.

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: “With this new route to Guernsey we’re giving Newcastle travellers an attractive and affordable offer for direct summer travel to the Channel Islands.

“Despite the economic challenges of the past 12 months, Flybe has continued to grow and we remain committed to providing the widest, most convenient range of regional services for our passengers.”
