Glass North East Exhibition unveiled at Houses of Parliament

Glass Artist Kathryn Wightman

A TEAM of artists from the North are to meet some of the country’s most influential political figures when a collection of their work is unveiled at the Houses of Parliament.

The Glass North East exhibition features the work of lecturers, professors and graduates of Sunderland University.

The week-long display is being launched on Monday by North East Minister, Nick Brown.

The collection aims to highlight the range and quality of glass research being carried out at Sunderland and explain why there is high demand to study at the university from students around the globe.

Among the artists whose work will be on show is Cate Watkinson, whose work includes the iconic glass sculpture on the roof of the Red Mall of the MetroCentre, and the popular Grainger Town public seating artworks.
