Pride in North East shows in book sales

Iconic structures including the Tyne bridges and the Angel of the North are all given a nod – and the book has proved a huge hit with Christmas shoppers.

Nathan Thompson, assistant manager at Waterstones in Newcastle, said Tyneside-themed books are flying off the shelves at the Blackett Street store, with people seeing them as the perfect Christmas gift.

“I think the amazing sales of these books are testament to the great pride that the people of Newcastle and Gateshead have in their local area,” he said.

“It’s great to see a book on architecture in our Christmas bestseller chart, battling it out with the likes of Frankie Boyle and Jamie Oliver.”
