“Ted is making good progress and we urge other families to look into donor registration and sign up.”
Ted, of Normanby, Middlesbrough, was rushed to the Freeman by the Great North Air Ambulance, when his heart stopped at James Cook Hospital, Teesside.
His ability to defy the odds has seen him nicknamed ‘Super Ted’ by the nurses who have been treating him.
Parents Kay Husband and Stephen Parks, said they were ‘stunned’ that Ted has finally received a heart after a two-month wait.
After the emotional rollercoaster they have been through with their baby, the couple have vowed to take his recovery a day at a time.
Kay, 34, said: “I think we’re still in shock. You wait for so long and you wonder how you’re going to react.
“We are pleased but we realise Ted still has a long way to go. His older brother Tom thought he would be able to come straight home.
“Ted’s in the best place and the team around him have been amazing.”
