Remembrance Day round up of the region’s memorial services

In Hexham, soldiers from 39 Regiment Royal Artillery will be marching through the town from 10.15am, as they celebrate their Freedom of the Town.

Some 100 soldiers will make up the march in addition to servicemen from the Royal Navy and TA, and the parade will be followed by a memorial at Fusilier Gate and a service at Hexham Abbey.

In Cramlington, Soldiers from 100 Pioneer Squadron will attend a wreath laying, with additional wreathes laid at the squadrons’ stations at Berwick and Hexham. Further afield, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, 102 Battalion, Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers HQ will parade through the town centre.

The Parade, led by Newton Aycliffe Band, will depart the Barnard Armoury TA Centre; continue onto Greenwell Road, Macmillan Road, Stephenson Way before marching to the Cenotaph.

A church service will follow at 11.15am in St Clare’s Church. In Whitburn, local squaddies from 251 Medical Squadron will parade at Whitburn Village from 10.00am.

In North Shields a parade will take place along Hawkeys Lane, North Shields, from 10.15am.

In Whitley Bay the parade begins at 2pm and travels along Victoria Terrace, Whitley Road, Park Avenue, Marine Avenue and Watts Slope until 3pm.

Tynemouth is marking the event at the War Memorial, Village Green Tynemouth, at 11am, after a march, beginning at 10.15am, travels along Huntingdon Place and Manor Road between Huntingdon Place and the junction with Percy Park Road.

The Wallsend service is taking place at the Burn Close War Memorial from 11am, and a parade will take place from 10.15am along Richardson Street, High Street East, Church Bank, St Peters Road, Burn Bank, Archer Street and Burn Close until 11.45am.

In Forest Hall, a parade begins on Crescent Way North from 10.15am at the and ends at 11am at the Forest Hall Institute Club.
