Crack addict Jordan Barnes jailed for attack on solicitor

Mr Brown frantically banged on the windows of nearby offices to raise the alarm but that didn’t stop Barnes attacking him. He pushed and punched the solicitor, knocking him to the ground, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

Once he had his victim on the floor Barnes started going through his pockets looking for the car keys, but to no avail.

An office worker had been alerted by Mr Brown’s attempts to raise the alarm and when he came on the scene Barnes fled, leaving his victim with cuts to the face.

While on police bail for that, Barnes, who has committed 99 offences, took part in another robbery on January 14.

He helped his sister, Chelsea Barnes, steal a gold necklace from a woman at a house in Sunderland. Chelsea Barnes, 23, was jailed for two-and-a-half years at an earlier hearing.

Barry Robson, for Jordan Barnes, said: “He has no recollection for the attempted robbery of the solicitor, he was on heroin.

“He is a bit of a nuisance but has stopped taking heroin while in custody.”
