Party leader Cameron challenged over policies

BUSINESS chiefs last night demanded David Cameron fill in the “blank spaces” in his policies and set out his manifesto for the North East.
The Federation of Small Businesses joined The Journal in urging the Tory leader to set out his policies as his party holds its autumn conference in Manchester with the general election due in months.
Tory Parliamentary candidate for Berwick Anne-Marie Trevelyan also demanded more “clear policy direction” with Mr Cameron facing questions on four key areas:
:: How will you boost our economy?
:: Where will spending cuts fall?
:: Will our transport network be upgraded?
:: Will Northern Rock be sold?
National FSB chairman John Wright, also regional vice-chairman, said there were “blank” spaces in Conservative policy and urged Mr Cameron to use his conference to spell out his policies.
“I would like to see what their transport policy is and I think we would like to see what policies they are going to put in place to help especially small businesses,” said Mr Wright.
He also said the Tory party needed to spell out its policy on the banks, which were still failing to help firms cope with the recession.
