Hotel daredevils ready to deliver five-star service to charity

GENEROUS hotel staff in Northumberland are preparing to take the plunge for a children’s charity.

The seven-strong team from Slaley Hall, near Hexham, will take part in a terrifying sky dive this week to kick-start their fundraising drive for the Variety Club.

The event will see the group jump out of a plane at 10,000ft and freefall for the first 5,000ft before they can pull the cord and open their parachutes.

It comes as part of the hotel group’s mission to collectively raise £250,000 for the charity which helps to improve the lives of disabled and disadvantaged youngsters.

Human resources manager at the hotel Sarah Ghandy said: “As a company we have pledged to raise £250,000 for the charity, so this is our first main event as an individual hotel.

“Some of us are really excited – I’m petrified though. We will be freefalling from 10,000ft at 120mph. But it’s for a very worthwhile cause because it helps so many children.

“The charity provides them with support and specialist equipment, it helps them go on day trips and also provides them with things that they might not have had before.”
