AN award-winning pub in Northumberland has scooped a prestigious accolade for the third year running.

The Feathers Inn, in Hedley on the Hill, near Stocksfield, has been named Dining Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide 2010, out today.

It is the third year in a row that owners Rhian Cradock and wife Helen Greer have been awarded the title for their impressive cuisine.

Rhian, 28, and Helen, 32, took over the business in April 2007 and have since won a string of prestigious awards, including Yorkshire and North East Pub of the Year and Local Food Hero for the North East.

The country pub has also been included in the Good Food Guide and Michelin Guide. It has built its reputation on sourcing local produce from surrounding farmers for its menu, which chef Rhian changes daily.

Helen said: “It’s been every year that we have had the pub that we have won this award and we are just speechless. It’s the highest accolade we could ever wish to receive.

“We were very surprised and pleased the first year we won and to have maintained that for the following two years is just absolutely fantastic. It’s testament to all of the hard work our staff have put in. They have been amazing.

“We are going to have a big party to say thank you to them and to celebrate.”

The Good Pub Guide, now in its 28th year, lists more than 5,000 independently chosen favourite pubs from across the UK.
