Trade Minister backs Journal’s export sector campaign

“We provide grants to get your business overseas so that you can make the vital face-to-face contact that helps to seal the deal. Now is a great time to go global, and I strongly support The Journal’s campaign,” said Lord Davies.

Nick Brown said: “I support The Journal’s campaign. Our region is already a net exporter. We have a huge vested interest in free and open international trade.

“We have so much to offer the world. The opportunities are out there.”

Labour MP Fraser Kemp, who represents Houghton and Washington East, said the region had a “world-leading” tradition in exports and could go even further with a stabilisation in the global economy.

“It is a great time for the North East to punch above its weight as it has done so in the past,” he added.
