Young eco-artists are all winners
SWITCHING off lights and machinery were just some of the messages in a series of colourful, eco-friendly posters, designed by the children of staff at tissue maker SCA Hygiene in Prudhoe, Northumberland.
Ten youngsters took up the challenge to create a poster to help raise environmental awareness and energy conservation at the plant, where the Velvet brand of toilet tissue is made.
“The effort and creativity the children put into their posters was fantastic,” said Susan Wallace, SCA business improvement leader. “It made selecting a winner incredibly difficult.
“We decided it was only fair to have all 10 designs professionally printed and they will be displayed at key areas throughout the site during the next six months.”
One entrant, Bailey Haggie, aged 8 from Chopwell, said: “ We have to recycle our rubbish like metal and plastic because if we leave litter lying around it can hurt animals and wildlife.”
Prudhoe High School student, Victoria Richards, aged 14, added: “It’s important to look after the world today so that plants, animals and people will be able to enjoy it tomorrow.”
The 10 artists each received a £25 MetroCentre voucher and a professionally printed version of their poster and a goody bag.
