A NEW brochure has been launched to entice couples to tie the knot in Northumberland.
Northumberland County Council wants to help local businesses and capitalise on the country’s big-business wedding industry.
The average couple will spend between £8,000-£16,000 on the venue, cars, cakes, caterers, flowers, musicians, photographers and the like for their big day. The Perfect Day brochure, which included details of every venue licensed to hold a civil wedding in the area, is being given out at wedding fairs across the country.
Also contained in the brochure is information about local musicians, bridal shops, hairdressers and wedding photographers while a DVD has also been produced. Lorraine Dewison, registration services manager at the council, said: “Couples spend thousands of pounds on their wedding day and we want to try to encourage them to spend it locally, in Northumberland, to help support local businesses.
“The choice of a marriage venue is very personal however and the county features a fantastic selection of stately homes, manor houses, castles, hotels and halls – each with something different to offer.
“Northumberland is such a unique and special county and we feel it can offer the perfect backdrop to a dream wedding.
“The brochure will help raise awareness of the amazing opportunities on offer, both to local residents and those living further afield.”
