Since Peter’s death his grandmother Anne Dodds claims a number of other motorists have said they have also had problems on the same stretch of road.
She said: “We have had three or four people who have come up to us and said they have nearly lost control on that corner. It is a bit of a notorious corner and the council should look at it.”
Mr Hoskins, 34, also says the high number of big trucks using the road could cause problems to the road surface. He explained: “There are a lot of trucks which will only help to deteriorate the road surface. Also if they fill up their tanks too much diesel can spill out which makes the road surface very slippy.”
Earlier this year insurance company Warranty Direct said analysis of eight years’ of claims revealed that more motorists suffered damage to their cars as a result of hitting potholes in Northumberland than almost any other area of the country. The county was only outdone by Ayrshire in Scotland.
A spokeswoman for Northumberland County Council said: “The investigation into the accident which caused the death of Peter Pringle is still running. It is a matter for the coroner to decide what the cause was.”
