Hundreds pay tribute at funeral of crash victim Peter Pringle

HUNDREDS of mourners turned out to pay their respects to a teenager who was killed in a car crash. Family, friends and colleagues of 17-year-old Peter Pringle turned out in force to say a final farewell to a young man who was descried by almost everyone he knew as “cheeky”.

Peter died 12 days ago when his Vauxhall Corsa left a country road and hit a tree near Alnwick in Northumberland.

Yesterday mourners packed out St Michael’s Church in Alnwick for the funeral.

But it was an all-too-familiar scene for many in the congregation. Just three weeks earlier, mourners, including Peter, had been at the church for the funeral of fellow Alnwick 17-year-old Sam Gattens, who also had his life cut tragically short following a car accident near the town.

Mourners wore traditional black for the service but at the request of Peter’s family many also wore a dash of pink – the youngster’s favourite colour.

The service was conducted by the Rev Rachel Squires and she explained that Peter’s family had chosen All Things Bright and Beautiful as the first hymn as it reflected Peter’s love of the outdoors and nature.
