A NORTH stage school is to celebrate its 20th anniversary this weekend with a gala show.
The event is being held by the Tyne Theatre Stage School, which has 250 pupils.
School principal Michaela Farren said: “It’s wonderful to have been involved for so long with the school and to have seen it grow.
“The gala show is a showcase of work from all students who attend the school and includes a wide variety of dance, music and drama, including musical numbers from Grease, Fame and The Wizard of Oz. Our youngest pupils, who are only three years old, will be performing to Kung Fu Fighting, while our older students will perform a girl band medley as well routines from Romeo and Juliet.
“It’s a fun variety show for the whole family to enjoy.”
The school was founded by performing arts teacher Barbara Biesterfield in the Blue Room at the old Tyne Theatre in 1989.
It is now located in new premises at Newcastle Performance Academy.
The show takes place tomorrow at 7pm and Sunday at 2.30pm and tickets, which cost £9, are available on 0844 493-9999.
