Unsung heroes from North East are wanted

TV star Carol Vorderman is urging people in the North East to nominate their unsung heroes.
The former Countdown presenter is backing the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, which is sponsored by The Co-Operative.
And she is calling on northerners to get involved by nominating people at the local Co-op store before the deadline on Friday. Now in its 11th year, it is the biggest event of its kind in the UK and one of the highest-rated awards shows on British television.
Ms Vorderman, who has hosted the awards since it started in 1999, said: “I’ve been honoured to be a part of Pride of Britain since day one. Every year, I’m always humbled by the nominees’ incredible stories and delighted to see so many famous people want to recognise their incredible achievements.
“I’m sure this year we will meet some even more extraordinary, truly deserving winners. There are unsung heroes in every community who deserve recognition. I urge everyone who knows such people to get down to their local Co-operative store, fill in form and post it in the Pride of Britain box.”
All winners are selected by a panel judges and will be honoured at the glittering star-studded awards dinner.
Everyone that nominates someone for a Pride of Britain Award will be entered into a prize draw to win two tickets to the event.
