A CLIMBER who fell to his death down the side of a waterfall at a Scottish beauty spot had been planning his future with his girlfriend.
Outdoor adventurer Andrew Luckley was on a romantic holiday with his partner Paris Whittaker at Steall Falls, in the Highlands, when the tragic accident happened.
The couple had been out climbing when Paris became tired and returned to camp, leaving Andrew out scrambling alone. When the 35-year-old O2 store manager didn’t return, a worried Paris went out to look for him but her search proved fruitless. His body was found at the bottom of the waterfall by a passing walker.
Lochaber Mountain Rescue team were called to the scene at around 6pm last Thursday but were unable to revive Andrew – from Fellside Park, Whickham, Gateshead – who is thought to have died from multiple injuries after falling from rocks.
Grief-stricken Paris told of her heartache at losing her best friend and the man who “made her laugh every day”. “He was one of the funniest people I have ever met,” said the 21-year-old.
“I have so many good memories. I loved his big grin and the way he could get away with saying and doing things no one else could. In fact, he made me smile every day.
