A CITY stockbroker originally from Yarm, near Middlesbrough, who fell to his death from a rooftop restaurant, was involved in an inquiry at work, it has been revealed.

Oxford graduate Anjool Malde, 24, had been asked to leave early on Friday by bosses at Deutsche Bank but was expected to return to the office on Monday.

His body was discovered on the ground outside No 1 Poultry – home to Coq d’Argent – in London’s Square Mile at midday on Sunday.

Mr Malde had planned to celebrate his birthday with friends at a champagne and canapes party in Soho bar Amuse Bouche on Thursday night.

A spokeswoman for Deutsche Bank said Mr Malde was “helping” the company with an IT-related inquiry.

She refused to go into details about the nature of the probe but said the broker was asked to leave work early on Friday and agreed. According to the bank, he was not suspended.

She said: “We are deeply saddened by our colleague’s death, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time.”

Mr Malde’s former headteacher said he was an “outstanding student”.

John Morgan, head of Conyers School in Yarm, said: “He was very talented musically and very able academically and did extremely well at GCSE, then achieved straight As at A-level and a degree at Oxford.

“He was an outstanding student. Obviously it is a while since he was here. It’s tragic and our hearts go out to his family.”
