Pair gallop to a new sprint world record

Before the attempt yesterday, the pair had trained hard in the outfit – which had to be an authentic pantomime horse costume to meet Guinness’ requirements.
Jared, 33, who now works as a full time athletics coach, said: “It’s quite a bit of relief and it’s a good feeling of satisfaction.
“The crowd have been absolutely brilliant. They’ve come out for the kids’ meeting today, it’s been a nice day, and we’re just really happy that we’ve been able to do it on the first attempt.
“We could hear the cheering and that really helped so it’s great to have managed it.”
Steph Whitehead, communications officer for St Oswald’s Hospice in Gosforth, thanked the pair for their efforts.
“They have raised over £1,000 which is brilliant – that’s sponsorship money through friends, family and colleagues,” she said. “I’m delighted for them. It’s fantastic that they’ve managed to break the world record because they’ve been training really hard.
“I’m really happy for them and they are obviously over the moon. We’re really grateful for their support.”
