Darryn Walker cleared over Girls Aloud rape fantasy

Walker, 35, had denied the charge. Tim Owen QC, for him, said Walker never meant to cause upset or fear to any of the members of Girls Aloud. He said: “He is, of course, enormously relieved this decision has been taken.

“The effect of the prosecution of Mr Walker has been devastating, he lost his job and has not got further employment as a result of the publicity.

“He is a man of good character and can hopefully recommence his life.

“When first interviewed in February last year he fully accepted he had written the article and posted it on an adult website.

“It had never been his intention to frighten or intimidate the members of Girls Aloud. He had written what he describes as an adult celebrity parody, only meant to be read by like-minded people.”

Mr Owen said as soon as Walker became aware his article had caused upset he had it removed.

Walker did not wish to comment after the ten-minute hearing.
