The Task Force was recently set up to target all forms of organised crime in the region. Since being established earlier this month, a number of operations have been staged and, before this week’s raids, 32 people have been arrested, with a further 16 stopped and searched for a range of alleged offences.
The team, made up of 60 detectives and uniformed officers, has recovered two kilos of cocaine, five kilos of cannabis resin, more than a kilo of heroin and half a kilo of amphetamine. The previous seizures include almost £70,000 in cash and £20,000 worth of mixed Euros and sterling.
Det Chief Supt Neil Adamson heads the unit. He said: “This new team will relentlessly target, disrupt and seek to prosecute those involved in organised crime at every level.”
