Great North Run final 100 spots up for grabs

Great North Run competitors make their way across the Tyne Bridge

DID you miss out on a place in this year’s Great North Run? The Journal is offering the final 100 places in the race exclusively to our readers.

And you can put your name forward for a place by logging on to our website.

If you are over 17, you are eligible to tell us in less than 200 words why you deserve a place in this year’s race. Just visit www.journallive.co.uk/greatnorthrun

Whether you are part of a group running for charity or you are simply doing it as a personal challenge, the places are there to be won.

David Hart, Nova’s head of communications, said: “We are delighted the last 100 places for the Bupa Great North Run should go to readers of The Journal.

“The Journal have been long term supporters of the run since 1981 and it’s great to know that the last 100 places will go to local people.

“Even though it’s an international event, it’s still an event with a strong regional flavour. That’s something we’re very keen to preserve.”

Each of the places costs £42 and the final 100 will be notified by e-mail of their successful application. Please do not send any money at this stage. Go to www.journallive.co.uk/greatnorthrun for more details on how you can grab one of those places. If you have any queries contact Paul Loraine on (0191) 201-6040 or at paul.loraine@ncjmedia.co.uk.

Journal editor Brian Aitken said: “We are pleased to be able to offer this wonderful opportunity to our readers, as we know many of you may have missed out on a place this year.

“This means that if anyone has been unable to get a charity place – or has just decided they want to challenge themselves by taking part – they have one last chance to be a part of such a great event.”

We will accept entries until the end of June 26, after which the top 100 will be selected.
