HUNDREDS of homes could be warmer and greener in time for winter, thanks to a new partnership.
Environmental organisation GoWarm has signed a deal with one of Europe’s largest transport firms, Arriva.
Staff from GoWarm will work with Arriva’s 2,000 employees to help them bring energy efficiency into their homes.
Workers will be able to benefit from insulation measures in their own homes, heavily subsidised by GoWarm.
The aim is to collectively cut household carbon emissions by as much as one tonne a year, as well as saving people up to £300 a year on their energy bills.
The scheme will also provide employees with work-friendly appointment times with energy advisers and workmen, which means they will not need to take time off work to wait for surveyors and installers to carry out the work.
Francis King, head of public relations at Arriva, said: “We are working to reduce the environmental impact of our public transport services and to encourage people to reduce the impact of their travel by using public transport where possible.
