THE economic woes of the world have prompted a double-headed tour, which will rock up to Newcastle 02 Academy on June 4.
The Alarm and The Damned will both headline the 3-4-1 UK Tour in a bid to provide a more-for-your-money vibe at the concert.
‘But it says 3-4-1,’ you say ... ‘that’s only two’.
Ah, but I haven’t yet told you about the special acoustic guest appearance by Stiff Little Fingers’ founder Henry Cluney, who is performing in the UK for the first time in a long time.
The tour was born from conversations between The Damned’s Captain Sensible and Alarm front- man Mike Peters during the doom-laden winter.
“In this present climate of fat cat bankers creaming it off the top, we’ve got together with our chums The Alarm to do some shows around the country at the same price that people would normally pay to see just one band,” says the Captain.
“A sort of ‘recession buster’ ticket. “Three for the price of one,” he adds.
“We wanted to create an environment that would bring people together, to talk, dance and take part in a unique rock and roll event like those legendary Anarchy / Red Wedge-style tours of the past,” continues Mike.
“Young bands of today are only skirting round the issues so we decided to do something about it in the only way we know how, and that is to stir people up with guitars and song.”
