Lenny’s set to rock Academy

READERS of the Culture Magazine (which came out free with yesterday’s Journal) will already know the following news ... Lenny Kravitz is coming our way in June.

The American rocker, is bringing his LLR09 tour to the Newcastle 02 Academy on June 24 ... and The Journal has been given a pair of tickets for the intimate gig to give away to one lucky reader.

You may find it hard to believe, but it has been 20 whole years since Mr Kravitz swung around his dreadlocks like there was no tomorrow and asked whether we were going to go our way.

To mark the double decade anniversary, his debut album, Let Love Rule, is being re-released (and digitally remastered etc) – hence the LLR09 name for his tour.

It’s likely to be a rocking nostalgia fest from the now mid-forties Kravitz ... although he’s keen to point out that he’s not just about celebrating the past ...

“The awards and the hits and everything, that’s all been really great,” says the New York-born rocker. “But the thing I value the most is that I wasn’t just a one-hit wonder. The best is still to come.”

Having already made eight hit albums and collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, it’s an ambitious prediction ... but something tells me he could pull it off.

Kravitz plays the O2 Academy on June 24.
