Feast of events on offer at Northumberland County Show

THOUSANDS of people will be descending on a park for the region's biggest agricultural event today. Now in its 28th year, the Northumberland County Show gives the farming industry the chance to show off their wares sown, grown and reared here in the North East.
The event, which is based around livestock classes, also has a packed entertainment programme.
Daredevil quad biker the Kangaroo Kid, Matt Coulter, who has been riding motorbikes since the age of three, will be performing stunts as one of the many attractions on the day.
Youngsters will delight at displays of lambs, rabbits and even alpacas in the livestock sections.
Visitors to the event will also be able to enjoy cookery demonstrations, crafts, pony club games and dog shows.
People may even leave as a World Record holder as an attempt will be made to get a dog to run through 1,000 pairs of legs.
The club’s founder and chairman Jacquie Hall set the record five years ago when she trained six dogs to run through 222 pairs of legs.
And nearly 60 of the region’s finest food and drink producers and suppliers will be at The Journal’s Taste of the County in association with Tesco. It is the first time The Journal has joined with Northumberland County Show in this way.
A huge marquee by the main pedestrian entrance will host some of the region’s best brewers, bakers and bee keepers.
