Student showered with praise ‘bottle-free’ shampoo

Three of Laura’s co-students, based in the School of Design, also impressed the judges with their designs in other categories.
Anjing Ma was awarded £7,500 for her designs of street exercise equipment, Nick Sharp won an award for his ‘ Design Against Bike Theft’ entry, and Nick Marks
was highly commended in the ‘While You Were Sleeping’ category for his design of an integrated anaesthesia system.
Northumbria University tutor Mark Bailey said: “The designs were of a very high quality.”
Laura was recognised for the work she submitted to the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts Manufactures and Commerce’s 2009 Design Directions competition.
She won The Wally Olins Opportunity Award of £2,500 for her entries in the ‘A Changing World’ section, focusing on minimising the impact on the environment.
