Paintings to decorate Tyne Tunnel hoardings at Jarrow

Paul said: “The fence panels are an ideal blank canvas, and we’re all looking forward to creating something special.
“This is such a major scheme for the region and it’s brilliant that these young people are getting the chance to be part of it.”
Trevor Jackson, TT2 managing director, said: “This is a really exciting project and we’re delighted to support it. Children’s artwork already plays an important part in our site boundary.
“ Last year we erected safety signs designed by local school children around the construction site, to deter young people from entering the site.
“Now we’re looking at something purely creative that will transform the way people see the site.
“I think this will become a real focal point for passers by, and maybe even a visitor attraction.”
The project also highlights the Wearmouth-Jarrow world heritage site bid, which local people are urged to support.
