Seminar should be an experience worth sharing

RABBI Lionel Blue will be continuing his weekly series of public seminars on belief and experience at Grey College, Durham, with another discussion today

Rabbi Blue, who is a regular contributor on BBC 4’s flagship Today programme, is being joined by people of different faiths and beliefs who share their views based on life’s experiences.

He explained: “We are not debating differences of opinion. The seminars give everyone involved a chance to share beliefs honestly and with respect.”

As a Fellow of Grey College, Durham, for the past seven years, Rabbi Blue said he was “delighted “to be returning to the north east again throughout May.

He added: “I love the region. The people are so friendly and tolerant. I am delighted to be coming back again.”

Among those taking part will be the former Astronomer Royal Professor Sir Arnold Wolfendale and Major Trevor Smith of the Salvation Army, who has spent his career working with the homeless and people with AIDS.

Organiser Henry Dyson, who is a Fellow at Grey College – a constituent part of Durham University – said: “Last year’s seminars were a huge success with many people attending, a number of whom took the opportunity to share their views. We would like to welcome everyone back, and encourage new people to come along.”

The seminars start at 7.30pm, and will be held at Grey College, South Road, Durham, tonight and on the following Tuesdays: May 12 and May 19. There will also be a bring and share meal/symposium on June 9. Anyone intending coming along is asked to pre-book with Grey College on (0191) 334 5591.
