May 5 2009 by Ben Guy, The Journal
WHERE are you favourite places in the North East? The Journal is aiming to track down your top 10 sights in the region.
Do you like a summer’s walk along the NewcastleGateshead Quayside taking in the breathtaking views of gala music centre The Sage, which opened in 2004.
Or maybe it’s a visit to the magical nature of Northumberland’s Alnwick Garden. Perhaps it’s the iconic images of the 66ft Angel of the North welcoming people to the North East or the breathtaking landscape of Holy Island.
With 250 square miles, Northumberland’s Kielder Forest is the largest in England but does the natural beauty do it for you?
And with miles and miles of award-winning beaches across Tynemouth and South Shields, there is plenty of coastline to choose from. The history of Beamish Museum celebrates the vibrant past of our industrial heritage, recreating how people lived and worked, maybe it’s your favourite place.
Or is it one of the impressive structures that cross the River Tyne taking in scenic views taken in by thousands everyday.
Whatever it is, The Journal is appealing for you to get in touch and tell us about it. Just by logging on to journallive.co.uk or by sending a quick email you can register your vote. The landmarks and sights that come out on top will be featured in our Top 10 series, as part of our Think North East England First campaign supplement, to be published on May 20 celebrating all that is good about the region.
