Constant vandal attacks worry Lynemouth residents

POLICE are appealing for help from the public following the latest in a series of vandal attacks which are making life a misery for people in a former Northumberland pit village.
Community leaders in Lynemouth are becoming increasingly concerned at the amount of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour which has been plaguing the seaside village for several months.
Since the turn of the year, cars have been torched, allotment sheds damaged, car tyres slashed, telephone and satellite dish wires cut and other property targeted on a regular basis in night-time attacks. Now police are investigating the latest spate of incidents, which happened between 10pm on Tuesday and 6am yesterday and resulted in 13 cars having their tyres slashed in various streets in the village. Yesterday county councillor for Lynemouth, Milburn Douglas, said fears were growing that the scale of vandalism is getting out of control.
But neighbourhood beat manager, PC David French, said: “I want to assure the people of Lynemouth we are making enquiries to track down the minority who think that behaviour like this is acceptable.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 03456 043043 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
