PINT-SIZED scientists tested their talents at a special day of activities.
Babies and toddlers with a thirst for knowledge donned hard hats as they took part in a range of science-based activities at the Centre for Life, in Newcastle.
The braver youngsters even got to grips with scary-looking mini-beasts including giant snails and millipedes.
Science communication director at the centre, Ian Simmons said: “Our special pre-school days at Life are great fun for small children and are always very popular. It’s never too early to encourage an interest in science and there are lots of simple science activities that younger children can understand and enjoy.
“These events have been designed to give toddlers the run of the centre on a day when older children are at school.”
Other fun on offer included musical workshops, a Toddler Disco with lights, music and bubbles and Touch, Feel, Look and See science activities.
There were also water tables and art activities.
The next pre-school day at Life will be on November 10.
