Visitors are being encouraged to join in and contribute what they can to the knitted garden.

Alnwick Garden learning programme manager Alison Hamer said: “We have already completed part of the garden wall and people can knit flowers, vegetables or plant pots.

“We will leave it up to the imaginations of our visitors and they may well teach us a thing or two.

“If people can’t knit they can still contribute by wrapping wool to create objects, looping wool to make plants and grasses or using yarn on card to a make green beds.

“Once we started our knitting group it became addictive and we hope it is the same with the knitted garden.

“The exhibition is just superb and has drawn a lot of admiration for the quality of the work.”
