Young mother of three found dead in pub

The Coach and Horses pub in Consett

THE death of a young mother in a pub in left a town in shock yesterday. The bank holiday atmosphere in Consett, County Durham, was subdued as people took in the news of the tragedy.

The unnamed 25-year-old mother of three young children was found slumped in a cubicle of the Coach and Horses in the town’s Middle Street on Sunday night.

An off duty nurse and door staff desperately tried to revive her while other members of staff called the emergency services.

When paramedics arrived they also tried in vain to pump her heart back to life.

She was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Durham but pronounced dead on arrival.

Police who carried out an investigation at the pub said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, which is believed to have been from natural causes. Friends of the woman told officers at the scene that she had collapsed and banged her head on the dancefloor.

Yesterday afternoon the Coach and Horses remained closed. The identity of the young mother, believed to be from Catchgate, is not being released until all her relatives have been informed.

She is thought to have been enjoying a night out in the town centre pub.
