Journal proves Sir Bobby is loved all over the world

The Thai fans even get together to play football and are currently taking on other fans groups in a tournament. Mr Rujikarnjana said: “We lost 4-0 to Barcelona fan club. Unfortunately, the results of the games seem to be the same as the teams we support.

”We’re playing Leeds fan club next and I think we may need Sir Bobby to get us out of this situation.”

The country has strong links to the North East – even Thailand’s Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is a Newcastle fan. Mr Vejjajiva – known to friends by the western name Mark – was born in Newcastle, where his parents were medicine professors, in 1964.

“It’s amazing, Newcastle United have such good support in Thailand. We all want to let Sir Bobby know how much we love him,” said Mr Rujikarnjana.

A total of 130 messages have now been posted on a special section of The Journal’s website dedicated to Sir Bobby.

We invited people to log on to our site following the opening of the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre last month to express what they think of Sir Bobby.
