The group will be creating a wildlife garden which will also be used as an outdoor classroom area.
Elaine Rough, Climate Crew organiser said: “The Climate Crew members have already been active in helping the school become more energy by switching off lights and appliances.
“Now they can get some hands-on experience by getting involved in developing and looking after the new wildlife garden. We also hope the garden will be enjoyed by members of the local community.”
Presenting the award, Dave Hutchison from Northern Gas Networks said: “It is great to see a group of youngsters so excited about getting involved in real environmental action. With such enthusiasm I’m sure the new wildlife garden is going to be a big success and we are delighted to be able to support them.”
