Cash reward for school's garden project

GREEN champions have won a cash windfall. Pupils from Newminster Middle School in Morpeth were awarded £700 by Northern Gas Networks in recognition of their green efforts.

The cash will be used by the school’s Climate Crew group to help transform an overgrown area of their school grounds into a wildlife garden.

The award was made as part of the Northern Green Networks scheme from the regional gas pipeline company, which awards grants.

This year, more than £60,000 has been awarded to community groups and schools across the region.

The Climate Crew, was set up as an after-school club to teach pupils about the environment and sustainable living.
