Stars bring the X Factor to Tyneside

X FACTOR stars were the toast of Newcastle last night when the live show came to the Metro Radio Arena.

Just two months after winning the television show’s final, 20-year-old Alexandra Burke was joined on stage by seven of her fellow finalists. But the line-up did not include North East girl band Bad Lashes, who were first of the 12 acts to be voted off by the public.

Hugely popular boy band JLS, who gave Alexandra a close fight for the title, were a big hit with the crowd. And Irish teenage heartthrob Eoghan Quigg made an appearance along with best friend Diana Vickers.

Female vocalists Laura White, Rachel Hylton, and Ruth Lorenzo and Daniel Evans, whose heartbreaking story of being nominated by his recently deceased wife had North East judge Cheryl Cole in floods of tears, completed the line-up.

The live tour started with a four-night run in Aberdeen on Sunday, so Newcastle was the second stop in a month-long series of appearances, which will culminate in a show at London’s Wembley Arena on March 25.
