SIR Bobby Robson officially opened Newcastle’s new Cancer Trials Research Centre on Friday, and now YOU can have the chance to thank him.

The Journal’s new ‘Dear Sir Bobby’ section will enable the people of the North East to tell one of the region’s favourite sons precisely what he means to them.

And all your comments will be combined into a special book which will present to the footballing knight.

Sir Bobby inspire many with his football exploits with Newcastle United, England and Ipswich Town – as well as some of Europe’s top teams.

But the son of a County Durham miner has also shown immense courage in the face of cancer and his determination to help his own people fight the disease has proved an inspiration to the region.
