Hopes of funding for major plans
MAJOR highway works at the Wheatsheaf Gyratory junction in Sunderland (£3.1m).
A park and ride facility for 520 cars at Follingsby (Lingey Lane) on the A194(M) in Gateshead, with buses running to the centres of Newcastle and Gateshead via Heworth (£3.8m).
Related bus priority measures for the Felling bypass and adjacent Sunderland Road in east Gateshead (£1.5m).
A park and ride facility for 328 cars on Whickham Highway, Lobley Hill, easing traffic congestion around the Western bypass, Team Valley and into central Newcastle and Gateshead (£2.7m). Related bus priority measures for the north end of Team Valley Estate (£1.6m).
