BLYTH MP Ronnie Campbell’s take on Tuesday’s match:
“The finish to last night’s match was so fantastic that I was one of the first on to the pitch at the final whistle, where I got hold of our chairman Tony Platten to congratulate him.
“I have been president of the Spartans Supporters’ Club for many years and go to every home game, unless I have something extremely important on.
“Last night was a brilliant atmosphere. I was there during the FA Cup campaign of 1978, including the Wrexham tie at St James’s Park, but this is an equally good run in my opinion. This is all happening at a time when we are second bottom of the league.
“The Blackburn Rovers tie will be a dream for the supporters and I’m sure everyone in the town will want a ticket.
“Roque Santa Cruz is a world class player and it will be fantastic to see someone like him at Croft Park. January 5 will be a great day in the history of Blyth Spartans because we have never had that class of opposition here before, and I can't wait.”
